Any substance that, as a result of production and usage activities, directly or indirectly poses a risk to human and environmental health when released into the receiving environment is defined as waste.
In industrial establishments, both primary and secondary pollutants can arise as waste products from production and usage activities. These wastes must be disposed of in a manner that does not harm the environment. This requirement is enforced through regulations published by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, ensuring the implementation of sustainable waste management practices. To this end, organizations are first expected to assess their waste under the Waste Management Regulation.
According to the Waste Management Regulation, wastes with designated waste codes are analyzed under the Waste Regulation for Controlled Landfills (ADDDY) Appendix-2 to ensure compliance with landfill criteria. Based on the analysis results, waste is disposed of at suitable waste sites.
Under the Waste Management Regulation, the hazardous characteristics of (M) marked wastes must be determined. In this context, analyses are conducted under ADDDY Appendix-3/A, and based on concentrations specified in Appendix-3/B, the waste is evaluated as hazardous or non-hazardous.
Under the Waste Management Regulation, sample collection is carried out by authorized personnel from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
When waste analyses are required under environmental legislation, organizations can apply for services through MELBES. TESTMER continues to provide services with our experienced and authorized team. Additionally, we offer services outside the MELBES system for processes such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report follow-ups, waste recovery, and tracking waste characteristics.
